Tiroler Lech Natural Park
The Lechtal counts itself amongs the most beautiful and original landscapes in the Alps due to its delightful natural specialities. This makes the valley so unique and protectable!
This natural area, scattered with characteristic habitats and several endangered species, became a European Natural Protected Area Natura in 2000.
Since December 2004, the Tyrolean Lechtal is not just a “Natura 2000” area, but also a natural protected area with the official title “natural park”.
Stretching over 41 km² at a length of 62 km, this park ranges from the district of Steeg through to the district of Vils on the south German border and offers a unique and valuable landscape.
The wild river of Lech is one of the distinctions of this valley, with its branching flow and the bordering Aue landscapes gives this area all the characteristics of a natural park.
